Ask your #MCM with Vikings

This week we are crushing on Josh Youngson from Vikings!

Vikings are an indie-rock band with a serious love of synthpop. Hailing from Winnipeg, the band fronted by former punk singer Josh Youngston, whose swoony falsetto vocals put the Biebs to shame. Brothers Dave and James McNabb provide the dreamy synth pop rock sounds while drummer Luke Janzen brings those irresistible beats.

Vikings latest record Animal Kingdom blends infectious melodies and driving beats that keep the listener moving and grooving. I couldn’t help but think of Miike Snow while taking in the tunes myself. Listen to their latest single “Queen of the Night” and you’ll see what I mean.

Focusing on big sounds and the spaces in between, VIKINGS’ music is equal parts dance-worthy and expansive synth trip.

What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

Eyes. They can suck you in from anywhere in the room. Once sucked in the ability to laugh and make me laugh. Confidence.

What is your definition of romance?

There are many different ways to look at romance. The ability to take chances. Risking it all for love. Being all in and having the other person not only know but feel that sense of connection in the pit of you.

What is your ideal first date/ what’s the best date you’ve ever been on?

I once went on a date to an amusement park and it started raining and instead of going for shelter we embraced it. It wasn’t cold. Kinda just stood there just gazing at each other in the rain and then we kissed. It was really cinematic. Nice memory.

What’s your instant deal breaker?

Honestly, super shitty parents and a clear lack of ambition. Also if they live in a Carolla I’d probably pass.

What is the best piece of romance advice you have ever received?

Be selfless.
