What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

A pretty face is the first thing that gets my attention.  Then the eyes.  The eyes say so much about a person.  If there’s a spark when we make eye contact, then that’s my cue to go and introduce myself.

What is your ideal first date/ what’s the best date you’ve ever been on?

My ideal first date would be going to a quiet place to talk and get to know each other. It can be a restaurant, coffee shop, park, anything, so long as it’s relatively quiet.  Followed by a walk through a park.   I find going on a walk and talking is so relaxing.  I think people seem to open up when they’re walking.  Perhaps because they’re so relaxed.

The best date I was on, was when I lived in New York City.  I picked her up at her apartment.  She lived in the upper west side of NYC, close to Central Park.  From there we walked through Central Park, talking and getting acquainted.  It was a beautiful day.  We eventually made our way to the Metropolitan Museum, which is on the east side of Central Park.   Afterward we went to a coffee shop.  We were together almost 7 hours and never got tired of each other or found ourselves at a loss of things to say.   We had so much in common.  Pretty amazing, I thought, for a first date.

If there was one piece of advice you could give to other men/women out there, what would it be?

Since I don’t feel qualified to give advice to women, I’ll direct this to men.  Don’t be afraid to make a commitment.  It tells her that you are interested in her and the relationship.  I think women find commitment attractive.  It tells them you are in for the long term.  It shows character.  I believe that’s what a woman wants to see in their man.

Describe your love life in one word

How do you keep the romance alive in your relationship?

By surprising her now and again with little gifts, like flowers or her favorite chocolates, maybe a bottle of her favorite wine.  It lets her know I’ve been thinking about her.  Other times I’ll make her breakfast and she’ll wake up to a nice surprise.  Other times I might bring home tickets to a musical or concert she’s been wanting to see. I think the main thing is to let her know she’s always on my mind.
