This week we are crushing on Pierre Kwenders!

Pierre Kwenders is an Afro-Canadian singer/songwriter with an eclectic and addictive sound.  He was born in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and now resides in Montreal. Pierre’s music mirrors his life; variable and eccentrically accessible, crafted through a myriad of experiences. From his multilingual rap abilities, to incorporating R&B, futuristic hip-hop styles, while remaining firmly rooted in Congolese rumba, the unspoken soundtrack of the country of his birth, Pierre’s music is an expression of his experiences.

His latest full length album, MAKANDA at The End of Space, the Beginning of Time, was produced entirely by Seattle-based Fly Guy Dai (aka Tendai Maraire of Shabazz Palaces). The new album pivots showcases a more instrumental sound while incorporating strong African influence and old-school West Coast hip-hop vibes into Kwenders own unique style. Take a listen to “Sexus Plexus Nexus” here and get a taste of what Pierre Kwenders has to offer.

Thought provoking, hip shaking and oh so groovy. We’re definitely crushing on Pierre Kwenders.  Join us in our crush below!
What is the first thing that you notice about a potential love interest?

The eyes, because they never lie and it’s the most powerful way to connect with someone.

What’s your instant deal breaker?

Ignorance

What is the best piece of romance advice you have ever received?

Insecurity kills romance. Stay true to yourself and let communication be the weapon of trust.

If there was one piece of advice you could give to other men/women out there, what would it be?

Be yourself, love yourself, respect yourself and while you do that make sure to love and respect others as well.

Describe your love life in one word

One word isn’t enough. Bad Timing.

Pierre is currently on tour in the U.K.  Keep up with him through his website and on social media below.
