Addicted to love? Strange places to meet people

In today’s day and age everything seems to be geared towards couples, and those people who are not part of a happy couple certainly feel left out for a reason. When most of your friends are married, how do you go out with them, how do you travel together, and how do you make any sort of plans when their union always seems to get in the way? When you throw in the fact that you’re not getting any younger things get even more complicated.

We’d like to help all those people looking to put an end to being single meet someone special and enjoy life the way it was meant to be enjoyed. There are certainly lots of places to meet someone, from chatting someone up at a bar, asking someone out from your gym or meeting someone cute at the movies, but what about those forgotten or often overlooked places where singles can meet potential partners?

We’d like to take this opportunity and explore some of the strange places that people often don’t consider great to meet someone new, but which more than do the job!

The Laundromat

As strange as it may sound, if you’re one of those people who like to frequent laundromats to wash your clothes, chances are there are lots of individuals just like you doing the same thing. This is actually a great place to meet other singles who probably use such services for the same reasons, which may vary from living in a cramped apartment with no washer and dryer to being in between apartments, jobs or partners. The older crowd might find this particularly weird, but you don’t think highly of meeting strangers at a cemetery either, so don’t fear being judged if you meet a nice person at a laundromat.

While Travelling

When two young people meet in a strange land and fall in love people think they’re living out a fairytale, and that it’s the most heartwarming thing ever! If you like to travel don’t ever hesitate to do it, even when you’re single, especially if you can take trips with various groups where you don’t know everybody. That’s not only a great way to meet new friends, but imagine if you met your perfect other half abroad, wouldn’t that be something?!

Online or via a Dating App

Usually not considered a place per se, the internet is a great place for singles to meet, forge friendships and start relationships. Free dating online has been very popular for the past several decades, and there are so many great sites nowadays that the internet has become one of the most frequented ‘places’ by singletons looking to couple up with someone cute, funny and right to their liking.

If online dating isn’t your thing, Facebook is another place that welcomes singles and can introduce you to like-minded individuals that live in your area. Join various singles groups and discover how it’s never been easier to connect.

Dog Parks

Dog people are very friendly and dog parks are a great place to meet them. Lots of singles have pooches and value their companionship and loyalty. They walk their furry friends every day and try to indulge them in every way possible, including finding new friends for them.

And that’s where you and your dog come in! Compliment the pup of the person you like and don’t be afraid to carry on a conversation. You already have a topic at hand that you’ll both enjoy.

On The Subway

Lots of young people take public transportation, particularly those buses, streetcars and subways that go straight through the downtown core. If you’re one of them you already have your work cut out for you. Public transportation is swamped with singles looking to get from point A to point B without the hassle of having to drive through crazy traffic. You can chat up someone on the bus before you get to your destination, just don’t be that creep that scares people off, please.

Sporting Events

If you have a favorite baseball or football team that you’ve been following for years, their game is a great place to meet like-minded singles. Your search for a partner will be much easier if you frequent places that are associated with things you already like because you’ll meet someone new and know already you have something in common.

School Reunions

Your high school reunion may not be your typical ‘place’ to meet new people, but it may be a perfect place to renew some long-lost contacts and see how everyone is doing. Seeing people you knew several lifetimes ago again may spark some old flames or you may see someone you thought you knew in a totally different and more positive light.

Keeping an open mind about meeting people and being willing to give them a chance to get to know you will enrich your life and ensure you always have a buddy for all those activities you’d rather do with someone than alone.
