Addicted Interview: The Temperance Movement

*header image by Rob Blackham

At the end of last year I had the pleasure of sitting down with The Temperance Movement ahead of their show at Toronto’s Lee’s Palace.

Hailing from the U.K. but sounding like they sucked the rock and roll soul out of the deep American South, the Temperance Movement are a beautiful conundrum that need to be heard and seen to be believed. Frontman Phil Campbell, bassist Nick Fyffe, guitarist Paul Sayer, and drummer Damon Wilson grew up listening to the likes of Creedence Clearwater and Lynyrd Lkynyrd and followed in the footsteps of Led Zeppelin to bring a piece of Americana home to their fellow music lovers.

Check out the title track from their latest album White Bear and you’ll see what I mean.

Back in October, I got the chance to sit with Phil and Nick in the green room at Lee’s Palace. There we chatted about music, fashion, and the band’s passion for frisbee. Yup, I’m not kidding.
