Addicted Inspirations: Kimberley Calderwood, founder of K. Calderwood Cosmetics

This week we are inspired by Kimberley Calderwood, founder of K. Calderwood Cosmetics.

When it comes to cosmetics, there is a veritable ocean of options available, but not all of them are create equal.  Quality, creation, ethics, process, all these things differ from one line to another. Most people have no idea what they maybe be putting on their faces, and simply trust that what’s on the market won’t be harmful to them.  Sadly that’s not the case.  Your average cosmetics brand uses many ingredients that aren’t the best for our skin.  So it’s great to find a line that not only makes you look and feel beautiful on the outside, but also safeguards your skin from the inside.  That’s why we love our latest makeup discovery, K.  Calderwood cosmetics.

Founded by its namesake, Kimberley Calderwood, K. Calderwood cosmetics is a conscious makeup line based in Toronto, Canada.  Formulated with the health of its wearer in mind, every product in Kimberley’s line is BHA, paraffin and silicon free, and it’s not tested on animals.  Being a makeup connoisseur herself, Kimberley ensured that being conscios didn’t mean sacrificing on quality or creativity.  From essential nudes to eccentric brights, shiny glitter and glowy highlighter, K. Calderwood has you covered. And with perfect pigmentation and great staying power, this line has it all, no matter what look you’re looking to create.

We had to meet the woman behind a makeup line that’s as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside.  Get to know Kimberley Calderwood below, and get inspired along with us.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a ‘’boss lady’’

How did you get involved with the work you currently do?

Having had sensitive skin my whole life, I began research at a young age of making my own cosmetics without the chemicals I was about 13 when I started really making my own.

What is your WHY? (The reason why you do the work you do)

So everyone can fulfill the desire to add glitz and glamour into there lives with makeup, but without the harmful long term effects it has.

What are the biggest challenges/setbacks you’ve had to face?

Being recognized , getting people to change brands and be with me, to give my line a chance.

What are some of the successes (big or small) you’ve had?

I’ve had numerous customers switch from the leading chemical packed brands to a healthy alternative, I’ve also given people with sensitive skin the opportunity to wear anything they want from my brand worry free.

What’s piece of advice would you give to someone trying to do what you do, or trying to follow their own dreams?

Do what you need to do. It won’t be easy, it never is. Nothing good has ever come of waiting around. Its going to get there, chin up and keep pushing forward.

How do you do manage to do it all?

When you love what you do as much as I do, it all just seems like easy tasks.

If you had one wish to help make the world a better place, what would it be?

I would want everyone to stop using so many harmful chemicals on their faces, I want to see everyone using a healthy alternative and avoiding many of the early aging signs and skin blotches the chemicals bring.

Who (person or organization) inspires you?

Tarte Cosmetics is a brand I idolize. They deliver healthy cosmetics to the world, and they have made it big.  I want to become as large as them, in order to cover more ground and get everyone who wears makeup to be on board!

If you could pick one charitable organization to ask our readers to donate to or volunteer with, which would it be? FOR A CHANGE : this national organization empowers girls to create social change by inviting them to design , lead , fund and implement projects hat they experience In their own  neighborhoods These girls are connected to role models that embody the same principles. GFC hopes to see a world where girls are enthusiastic about leadership and being active citizens in their communities.
